Jazz Night – April 29th, 7pm
o Tickets will go on sale this week
o There will be general and reserve seating
o Reserve tickets fill quickly so buy your tickets soon
o Jazz night will consist of dessert, coffee and ice tea
o Jazz Band, Jazz Orchestra and selected Jazz Singers will be performing
o This is a fund raiser for the RTMS Music Department
Spring Trip – Dollywood
o 7th and 8th graders that are attending must attend 2 mandatory rehearsals on May 3rd and May 5th.
Final Band Concert
o May 17th – 7pm
o Students will need to come early (TBA)
o Parents /DPA can stay and mingle in the cafeteria. Parents, please bring finger foods to share
o DPA will select next year’s officers – please consider volunteering
Auditions for next year band placement
o May 18th – for current 6th and 7th graders
River Jam – May 27th
o End of the year carnival for the whole school run by connections teachers
o Volunteers are needed for concessions, ticket sales, activity booths, etc –please email the band directors if you can volunteer for a couple of hours

DPA Meeting Minutes
Tues March8th – 6:30pm
1. LGPE – Large Group Performance Evaluation
a. LGPE is a Fulton County event where school bands are evaluated by judges.
b. River Trail will bring the 7th and 8th grade Concert and Symphonic band to perform at the evaluation this year (and a few chosen 6th graders).
c. LGPE will take place on Wednesday March 23rd. Buses will be transporting the bands around 10:00 am to Young Middle School south of the city.
d. Before getting to Young MS, the buses will stop at The Varsity, in downtown Atlanta for lunch.
e. Be sure your child has turned in a $10 bill before March 17th. This $10 will be given back to the students at The Varsity for them to use for lunch.
f. Buses will head back to school around 6-7pm.
g. We need chaperones. We would like about 18. Please volunteer today!
2. Spring Trip
a. Those of you that have students attending the spring trip to Dollywood must make your final payment by March 10th.
b. The date for the trip is May 7th.
3. Jazz Night
a. April 29th
b. Jazz night is an evening event where the Jazz Band, Jazz Singers and the chamber Orchestra perform.
c. It is an evening event open to the whole River Trail community.
d. The event is set up in the Cafeteria with food, linens and decorations.
e. The band, orchestra and chorus rotate from year to year on the organization of this event.
f. This year, it is band’s turn to organize.
g. We have a committee chair and a handful of parents who have agreed to help.
h. We would really like to see another “co-chair” and we need more volunteers.
i. If you have any ideas on a theme, décor, flyers, etc., please let us know ASAP so the planning can begin.
